Dear Friend of Free Vermont,

The Empire is going down. America needs a new metaphor –an alternative to (1) bigger, faster, and more high-tech make better; (2) might makes right; and (3) whoever dies with the most toys wins the game. Vermont stands ready to provide such a metaphor, the Vermont village green with its small towns, small businesses, small schools, small churches, small farms, and strong sense of community.

On November 7th the Second Vermont Republic held a statewide convention on Vermont independence in the House Chamber of the State House in Montpelier. The convention took the form of a village green forum, circus, and old fashion medicine show. The aim was quite simply to foment a Genteel Revolution against the American Empire.

With the meltdown of the global economy an increasing number of Vermonters are turning to secession as an alternative of last resort. The convention may have been the defining moment of the Vermont independence movement. But conventions and independence movements cost money, and raising money for a secession movement is not like raising money for the Democratic or Republican parties.

If the Second Vermont Republic is to move to the next level, electing members of the state legislature who are open secessionists, we need your financial support. We know these are tough times financially. Both the need and the opportunity have never been greater.

Please join our Genteel Revolution and help Vermont save itself, America, and the rest of the world from an empire gone amok. Give generously to the Second Vermont Republic. Send your check to SVR, P.O. Box 544, Charlotte, VT 05445.

Sincerely,

Thomas H. Naylor
